Without a doubt the game of the day was the 1pm game in gym two, the PHX Force 12U vs Team Bibby12U. The gym started to fill 5-10 minutes before game time and by tip off, the gym was packed and filled with anticipation and excitement. This weekend was filled with rivalry and grudge match games and this game was no exception. These two teams are very familiar with one another having played against each other at least 8 times and for the most part, Team Bibby has gotten the better of the deal but would this game be any different? would Team Bibby be able to continue to assert there dominance on the inner state rival, well let's get to the action and find out! From the start it was obvious that while both teams played with great sportsmanship, there was no love lost. The game started out with JJ Rhymes hitting a long 3 and the very next trip down PHX Force's guard Mason Stark (who's physically small but packs a very big game) hit a long 3 to Tie the game as if to say, we came to play. While the PHX Force went into the half with a 2 point lead 22-20, there were over 11 lead changes and neither team led by more than 5 points, this game went down to the wire. With ten seconds left in regulation, the PHX Force led by 1pt, 36-35 but team Bibby’s Kamen walls stepped into the passing lane of a pass and stole the ball with 10 seconds left and coach Raymond Walcott immediately called a time out. Out of the time out, the ball was en bounded to Kamen Walls, the speedy, exceptional ball handler penetrated down the middle, beating the defender forcing the defense to collapse Kamen then dished a no look pass to a wide open Gavin Lindstrom who scored a layup with just 2.6 seconds left in regulation. Team Bibby does it again or do they? On the in suing in bounds, Mason Stark inbounded the ball to PTBer (Prime Time Baller) N'Keal Harry at half court, just as N'Keal turned to shoot a half court shot he was fouled by Bryce Fisher with just 0.9 seconds left which sent N'Keal to the free throw line to shoot a 1-1. With the tension in the air so thick you could cut it with a knife, N'Keal Harry stepped up with ice water in his veins to sink two free throws to give the PHX Force the upset win 38-37. "Man, what a game" said coach Mike Stark of the PHX Force. "We hung in there, these young men refused to lose today and I couldn't be more proud of them". Gavin Lindstrom led Team Bibby with 16pts and JJ Rhymes added 14pts. The PHX Force was led by none other than the very athletic forward N'Keal Harry who scored 20pts and added 8 rebounds. Mason Stark contributed 12pts.
Here are the scores to the rest of the days games.
